Permission Guide

Last updated: February 20, 2025
Welcome to "Notify Me!", the app designed to help your customers stay updated with restock notifications and easily place preorders. To ensure a smooth and efficient experience, our app requires certain permissions to access specific data in your Shopify store. These permissions allow "Notify Me!" features to work, e.g. notify customers when products are back in stock or manage preorders. Below is an explanation of each permission and how it supports the features of the app. By granting these permissions, you'll enable us to provide seamless functionality, helping you increase sales and enhance customer satisfaction.
1. View and Write Shop Customer Data
This is used for several distinct purposes:
- Managing wishlist data for shop customers
- Enabling the third-party integration features which help you share customer contact data with your other apps
- Enabling the B2B features which help Notify Me! handle specific needs of your business customers who have multiple locations
2. View and Write Products (Inventory, Products, or Collections)
This is needed to enable core functionality of Notify Me!, e.g. back-in-stock subscriptions, pre-orders and low stock alerts. (We need the “write” access to manage pre-order-related settings on the Shopify side.)
3. Access to Store Owner Contact Information
This is needed for account management and communication, and other support or legal purposes.
4. View and Write Orders
This is needed to tag pre-orders, which is then used to identify and track pre-orders in the Notify Me! App.
5. Access to Shop Locales and Translations
This is needed to make Notify Me! Multi-lingual and usable for non-English speaking audiences.
6. Access to Shop Locations
This is needed for accurate tracking of inventory, which helps our features (back in stock, pre-order and low stock) become more accurate and useful to shop owners and customers. For example, let's say your store has two locations, one is an online sales channel and the other is for in-store only. This permission lets us choose the online location so we can send relevant notifications (preorder and back in stock) when you restock an item.
    7. Editing Online Store (Themes)
This is needed to add Notify Me! widget to the existing themes in online stores.
    8. Editing Purchase Options
This is needed to create and edit “selling plans” for the pre-order functionality.
